Bufford Latham

March 29, 2019

Bufford Carl Latham, age 84, of Mount Vernon, passed away unexpectedly on March 29, 2019 at his home.

He was born on May 3, 1934 in Fredericktown to the late Carl and Ruby (Talbott) Latham.

Bufford was a U.S. Navy Korean War Veteran, where he was awarded the Good Conduct and Korean Service Medal. He retired in 1988 from General Motors after 32 years of service with them as a tool and die maker.

Bufford was a longtime member of The Mount Vernon Baptist Temple.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Alice (Meier) Latham; three children, Deana (Ron), Marcy (David) and David; three sisters, Marceline Reed, Geraldine Reed and Pat Fowler; two brothers, Terry (Rosemary) Latham, Rick (Linda) Latham; along with several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Friends may call on Tuesday, April 2, 2019 from 11:00 – 1:00PM at Lasater Funeral Home, 11337 Upper Gilchrist Road in Mount Vernon, where funeral services will follow at 1:00 PM with Pastor Curt Smith officiating. Burial with military graveside honors by the Knox County Joint Veteran's Council will be in Forest Cemetery.
