Frances B. Miller departed this present world Sunday July 7, 2019, joining the One who holds victory over death – Jesus!
Frances was born July 1, 1922, the sixth of ten children born to the Danville farming family of Clement P. and Elnora (Fritz) Durbin. Those ten were Agnes, Alphonsus, George, Paul, Rita, Frances, Clement Jr., Mary Ann, Theresa, and then Rose, who alongside her husband Joe Goodof, is now the only remaining sibling.
Frances was a premier member of an amazing generation marked by perseverance – our parents. She never owned a computer, a cell phone, or a credit card. She was a practical person who tried to keep things simple yet functional. She never shied away from hard work and was crafty to an extreme. She would sew her family's clothes, make herself a dress, preserve food and cook incredible meals. She was a proficient carpenter who could build an attractive storage chest or take a large part in building a barn. She was an avid reader, had a quick wit and taught her children not to be afraid of challenges or new experiences.
Frances married John Miller of Newark in May of 1948. John is deceased as well as children Michael, Stephen, Joan and Gregory. Surviving are three sons – Paul, Karl (Christine) and Eugene (Ivonne) Miller; four grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the individuals at Brookdale Assisted Living and Kindred Hospice for their loving care.
Family and friends may call Thursday July 11, 2019 from 9:00am – 9:45am with a funeral Mass starting at 10:00am at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 303 East High Street, Mount Vernon. Burial at Calvary Cemetery will follow the service.
In lieu of flowers Frances has requested donation be made to Starting Point of Mount Vernon, 11 Woodlake Trail, Mount Vernon, OH 43050
