Grace Estelle Motherall Hoagland

Grace Estelle Motherall Hoagland, formerly of Mount Vernon Ohio, died April 25, 2018,
following a short illness. She resided at the Bridge Assisted Living Community in Greeley for 
over 13 years.

She was born in New London Connecticut in 1926. She was the daughter of Townsend Gibson 
Motherall and Estelle Brownell Motherall. She moved to Mount Vernon in 1933. She graduated
from Mount Vernon High School in 1944, and attended Miami University in Oxford. 
She married Melvin Cramer Hoagland in 1948.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Elizabeth (Randy) Hoagland Schwalm, sister -
in-law, Joan Hoagland, nieces and nephews Barbara Barry, Douglas (Margaret) Barry, Sherri
(John) Engles, and Shawn (Michelle) Hoagland. 
Grace was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin C. Hoagland, her son, Thomas Melvin
Hoagland, her parents, Grace Headington Motherall, sister, Virginia Ruth (Fred) Barry Jr., and 
her brother, Henry Gatchell (Margaret) Motherall.

She worked at Continental Can, a customer service representative at AAA, and a paralegal at 
Zelkowitz, Barry and Cullers.

Grace was a member of Saint Paul's Episcopal Church, the Town and Country Garden Club, 
Couples Club, Chapter 236 Ohio Eastern Star, where she was Worthy Matron in 1958, Mount
Vernon Country Club, Knox Community Hospital Women’s Auxiliary, and BPOE 140 Order of
Elks. 

A memorial service will be held on Friday, June 1, 2018, - 10:00 am at St. Paul's Episcopal Church.  Burial will follow in Mound View Cemetery.  The Lasater Funeral Home is handling the services for the Hoagland family.
