Roselyn Burdette Beery of Mount Vernon died June 8, 2019. She is survived by her three children, Rex, Jan and the Rev. Max (Carroll) Beery; three grandchildren, Steven (Faye), David (Mikasa) and Sarah Beery; three great-grandchildren, Isaac, Josephine and Noah Beery. She is preceded in death by her husband Dr. Ralph H. Beery Jr., and daughter, Joan. Roselyn was a graduate of Mount Vernon High School and attended Ohio State University. She was a graduate of Barbizon Studio of Fashion Modeling in New York City. She served as a volunteer with her musical talents with the USO during World War II. After her marriage to Dr. Ralph H. Beery, Jr. she was active in many civic, community and church organizations. She was either a member or past member of Eastern Star, Gideons, Soroptimist International, Children Conversation League. She was a past Executive Director of United Way of Knox County. She was a former member of Mount Vernon City Council. Also, she served as a past Knox County Chairwoman, a Teen Age Republican Advisor for the Ohio Republican Party. She was an alternate delegate to two Republican National Conventions and she and her husband attended two Republican Inaugural Balls in Washington, D. C. In her church work she served on the District Planning Committee, District Council and was an officer in the District Lay Speakers program. She was a member of the Gay Street United Methodist Church and throughout the years served on various committees. Visitation will be Saturday, June 29, 10-11 a.m., with Celebration of Life service from 11 a.m. - 12 p.m. at Gay Street United Methodist Church. The family suggests memorial contributions to the Gay Street United Methodist Church or to your favorite charity.
