Stella Ruth Kidwell Ewart, 98, of Mt. Vernon died November 5, 2017 at Galway Home in Kansas City, MO.
She was born February 7, 1919, in Eagleville, OH, to Roy and Clarice (Porter) Kidwell.
She lived in Ashtabula County until 1930 when her family moved to Knox County. She graduated from Martinsburg High School and was married to Robert Ewart from 1939 to 1981. They raised their family on a farm near Martinsburg until 1969 when they moved to Mt. Vernon. She was baptized April 14, 1941, and was a member of the Martinsburg Church of Christ, where she taught children in Sunday school for 20 years. She is remembered as a family caregiver, having cared for her younger siblings and family in her teens, then later her own family including her special daughter, Roberta, and later her aging mother and father.
She is survived by her daughter, Susan (Jon) Gordon of Dallas, TX, granddaughter Erin (Michael) Grady, and great-grandsons Ethan and Owen Gordon Grady of Manhattan Beach, CA;her daughter Camellia Dickenson of Kansas City, MO, grandson Brett Dickenson of Kansas City, MO, granddaughter Loren Dickenson (Jay) Dyke, and great-granddaughter Brynn Dickenson-Dyke of Lee’s Summit, MO; and her brother, Glenn (Virginia) Kidwell of Bladensburg, OH.
She was preceded in death by her daughter Roberta Terry Ewart, brother Howard Kidwell, and sister Deanna Kidwell Johnson.
Friends may call Friday, November 10, 2017 from 1:00 pm until the funeral at 2:00 pm at the Martinsburg Church of Christ. Mr. Don Allen and Mr. Jason Jackson will officiate. Burial will follow at the Martinsburg Presbyterian Cemetery. The Dilley-Laster Funeral Home in Bladensburg is handling the funeral arrangements for the Ewart family.
