Kathryn “Kate” Marie Woolison, age 100, passed away peacefully surrounded by family Saturday, May 30, 2021 at the Country Club Retirement Campus in Mount Vernon, OH. Kate was born November 29, 1920 in Martinsburg, OH to Orville M. Arrington and Alice Mae (Ross) Arrington-Robey.
Kate spent her lifetime in the Knox County area. Growing up she initially attended the one room schoolhouse in Martinsburg where her mother was a teacher before going on to become a proud graduate of Gambier High School class of 1939. After graduating Kate worked as a waitress at various restaurants including at the local iconic Pitkin’s Corner. On November 7, 1942 Kate married Charles “Chod” Woolison in Martinsburg before settling in Gambier where she lived for over 70 years. Kate was a kind and generous person who was devoted to her family and a friend to many. She enjoyed playing euchre with her family and friends.
She is survived by two sons, Charles (Sue) Woolison of Gambier and Paul Woolison of Fredericktown; daughter Donna (Tim) Black of Gambier; four grandchildren Jeff (Tom Rutherford) Woolison, Angela (Bob) Davisson, Russ Woolison, and Jennifer Woolison; six great-grandchildren Eric Davisson, Alexis Woolison, Nicholle Davisson, Nicholas Woolison, Grant Woolison, and Olivia Woolison; step granddaughter Carly (Andy) Diroll-Black; step great-grandchildren Jackson and Minerva Diroll-Black; and sisters-in-law Martha Robey and Patricia Robey.
In addition to her parents, Kate was preceded in death by her husband of nearly 45 years, Chod Woolison; granddaughter Tracy Lynn Woolison; brothers Merrill Arrington, Orville “Jay” Arrington, John (Phyllis) Robey, Ross Robey, and Donald Robey.
The family of Kate Woolison would like to extend a special thank you to all the staff at the Country Club Retirement Campus for their care and compassion over the last several years.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday, June 3 at the Lasater Funeral Home from 5:00 - 7:00 pm. Funeral graveside service will be held Friday, June 4 at 1:00 pm at the Union Grove Cemetery in Gambier, OH.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or a charity of one's choice.
